  Last night I faxed over the timeline of our placements/adoptions on a handy-dandy excel spread sheet so that she could physically see the overlap and muddle that 8 adoptions in 10 years created for the rolling credit turned refund. Good news is that the IRS has truly started moving the 8839 Adoption Refunds for several of my readers. On our own front, this week I identified the particular confusion that our family created on the 8839's with our Tax Advocate.   Hopefully, with that in hand, she will be calling us back sometime early next week so that I can send her the last documents she needs and we can get out of the 'pending' (One in the $3000 range another $24,000)  Now they face the quandary of how to return this extra money to the IRS without causing a huge tailspin of chaos....

Sent IRS Tax Return...Paper Filed...How Long to Get Refund?

How long does it TRULY take someone to receive their tax refund when filing by paper instead of e-file?

I would love to hear from people who have paper filed in the not too distant past who can give me an idea of how long we're going to

A: Kristi, there was a backlog of tax returns for 2/14. 4 weeks would not be unusual for any paper return.

A: Mailing the paper return at this time will not speed this process up because for the tax form 8839 for 2010 tax year will NOT be available for a while and when does become available probably after the middle of February you may even be able to efile it
