Foundling Museum - Fabric Tokens Identified Abandoned Children
The work of Thomas Coram continues through Coram, previously the Thomas Coram Foundation for Children. The Foundling Hospital, established in 1739 by philanthropist Thomas Coram, cared for more than 25,000 abandoned children over a period of more than 200 years. Professor Styles examines the histories of babies abandoned at the Foundling Hospital through small tokens, such as pieces of fabric , used to identify these children. The exhibition outlines the work done by Coram's friends and associates including George Frideric Handel and William Hogarth in support of the children's home. The Lives of Abandoned Children. Although the hospital no longer exists, the Foundling Museum, established in 1998, tells the story of the hospital and its founder. Threads of Feeling looks at the lives of babies left at the Hospital between 1741 and 1760....

I recently watched the movie, "Nobody Knows" (Dare Mo Shirenai) which was loosely based on the tragic real life events covered in the Japanese press as, the "Affair of the Four Abandoned Children of Nishi-Sugamo". What's happened
